Frequently Asked Questions

How is CGPA calculated?

CGPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Σ(Credit Hours). Multiply each subject's GPA points by its credit hours, add them all up, then divide by total credit hours. Our calculator does this automatically.

How do I convert marks to CGPA in Pakistan?

First convert marks to percentage (obtained ÷ total × 100). Then look up the HEC grading scale: 90%+ = A+ (4.0), 85-89% = A (4.0), 80-84% = A- (3.7), 75-79% = B+ (3.3), 70-74% = B (3.0), and so on. Our Grade Checker tab does this instantly.

What is a good CGPA in Universities?

3.7–4.0 = Distinction (Dean's List), 3.0–3.69 = Very Good, 2.5–2.99 = Good, 2.0–2.49 = Satisfactory, below 2.0 = Academic probation risk.

What is relative grading and how is it calculated?

Relative grading scales your marks based on the class topper. Formula: Scaled % = (Your Marks ÷ Highest Marks) × 100. If highest is 70 and you got 56, your scaled score = 80%. This is used when papers are harder than expected.

How do I calculate cumulative CGPA across semesters?

Cumulative CGPA = (Previous CGPA × Previous Credits + Current GPA × Current Credits) ÷ Total Credits. Use our CGPA calculator — enter current semester subjects plus your previous CGPA and credit hours to get the exact cumulative figure.

Is this CGPA calculator free?

Yes, 100% free, no signup, no limits. Works on mobile, tablet, and desktop.

Does this calculator support Pakistani and US grading systems?

Yes. Toggle between Pakistani HEC grading (A+ to F, 0–4.0 scale) and US Standard GPA (4.0 scale, A to F) using the button at the top of the tool.

About This CGPA Calculator

This free CGPA calculator is built for students in Pakistan, the US, and worldwide. It combines four essential academic tools in one: a semester GPA and cumulative CGPA calculator, a marks-to-percentage converter, a grade checker, and a relative grading simulator.

The HEC grading system is fully implemented — A+ (90–100%, 4.0 GPA) down to F (below 50%, 0.0 GPA) — matching the Higher Education Commission standard used across universities including FAST, NUST, COMSATS, UET, and hundreds of other institutions. The US Standard 4.0 scale is also supported with a single toggle.

Built by ToolLabHQ. All calculations run locally in your browser — no data is stored or transmitted anywhere. Use it before exams, after results, or any time you need to track your academic performance.
